Short film: Archer Street Green Button Down

  • New Oxford Cotton Button Down: Archer Green

  • Short Film: Archer Street Green by William Milligan

  • Explorer shirts coming soon

To commemorate our recent move to Archer Street in Soho, I’m very honoured to present to you the first in a new collection of shirts from Jake’s. Made using a beautiful mid weight pale green Oxford from Ringhart and named after the Street our workshop is located. The Archer Street Green Oxford button down is sure to become a wardrobe staple.

To accompany this shirt we teamed up with portrait photographer and film maker, Will Milligan. The film features young Saxophonist Joe Steele who studied Jazz at Leeds College of music and now resides in London.

Shot on location on Archer Street, the aim of the film is to capture the current and previous mood of Archer Street. Between the the roaring 1920's, the great depression of the 1930s and post-war Britain of the 1940s and 50s, Archer Street was a known hang out for jobbing and out of work musicians due to its location behind the Apollo and Lyric theatre and Musicians Union. The Street witnessed great changes in culture as the Charleston craze took over the west end and developed as a breeding ground for pioneering jazz musicians who were never too far from the bar and local job board. The film can be viewed above, or on our instagram
